ETUG activities:
IT and Telecommunication services know no boundaries and provide the main platforms for the majority of the Energy Industries regulatory, compliance, cost cutting and efficiency initiatives.
The ENA Energy Telecommunications Users Group (ETUG) acts in a co-ordinating and facilitating capacity to assist Member Companies in achieving the common goal of 'best in class' in the field of Operational IT and Telecommunications services. This demands that excellent channels of communication are established within member companies and at the ENA.
Through communication and co-operation, ETUG and its associated groups will endeavour to assist member companies make informed decisions on issues that are likely to affect any aspect of their essential Operational IT and Telecommunications Asset base.
Objectives:
- In essence, the Group provides a focus for liaison, co-ordination and information in areas that member Companies identify as being of mutual concern or benefit. These activities are brought about and directed through a framework established by the Energy Networks Association (ENA) Board comprising a number of committees and task groups managed by the ETUG Telecommunications Co-ordinator, in addition to a range of advisory services and initiatives provided by the Group.
- To help promote the interests, growth, good standing and competitiveness of the UK energy networks industry's Operational Telecommunications and IT services in the UK and overseas.
- To help provide a forum for discussion among company members and others of Telecom and IT issues that concern or may affect the interests of UK energy networks industry and to disseminate and transmit informed opinion on these matters to Ofgem, Ofcom, government departments, in particular DTI, and other institutions in the UK and the European Union.
- To help promote and protect the common Telecom and IT interests of the members of ENA.
- To help monitor, influence and campaign for or against prices, policies, proposals, decisions, and legislative or regulatory instruments of government, suppliers, or other institutions which may affect the Telecom and IT requirements of the UK energy networks industry.
