Activity 1: RoEP
Definition: On-going work associated with the management and mitigation of Energy Industry RoEP effecting 3rd party telecoms infrastructure.
Deliverables:
-
Manage RoEP register of contacts
-
Identify new isolation requirements to accommodate the provisioning of NGN services at 'hot sites' and to continue to review existing and new design documents that can support S37.
-
Set up a regular forum with BT with the aim of jointly developing RoEP standards and resolving local and national issues
-
Meet with BT on an annual basis to update all reference documentation and standards (Electricity Industry and BT ISIS) and revise web archives to reflect agreed changes to S37 Reference Documents A & B Guidance Literature.
-
Arrangements for access to guidance literature and policy for revision.
-
Address any new issues raised by Network Rail or other PTOs.
Report on RoEP issues arising associated with IT and Telecoms and of strategic importance to the Energy Industry and recommendations to mitigate risks whilst maximising benefits.
Risk/Benefits: The outputs previous delivered by long standing CCSG group enabled previous significant costs associated with RoEP remedials to be largely mitigated. Should such process and systems not be maintained / implement then there is a potential for old and new financial risks to manifest once again.
Activity 2: Other IT & Telecom issues of importance to the Energy Industry
Definition: Manage issues associated with IT and Telecoms arising during 07 of strategic importance to the Energy Industry
Deliverables:
-
Report on issues associated with IT and Telecoms arising of strategic importance to the Energy Industry and recommendations to mitigate risks whilst maximising benefits.
-
Review Ofcom CONDOCS as an when arising.
-
Watching brief of Brussels – Public forum on availability and robustness of electronic communications.
Risk/Benefits: Cannot be qualified at this time as future is not known but by way of an example it was the EITC group that was first asked to mitigate BT21CN by facilitating wider recognition of the Energy Industries issues whilst engaging the telecoms industry (this external IT/Telecoms risk now sits in OFGEM top 3 and subsequently resulted in the ETUG NGN working group being established).
EITC also has a watching brief on all aspects of telecommunications in order to identify and report potential threats and benefits to members.
