Public Safety: Aviation
Whether piloting microlights, hot air balloons, helicopters or light aircraft, the risk posed by electricity power lines is equally serious. Danger of contact with overhead lines is heightened enormously by the size of the equipment used.
Night flying poses an even greater hazard. ENA recommends all flyers, however experienced, ensure that they have a map of power line routes (available from your local electricity company).
While this advice may seem common sense, it is easy to misjudge heights and distances, especially in bad light. And the changing nature of power supply requirements means routes can and do change.

Our leaflets are provided free of charge. However, we would appreciate you letting us know where they are being used. Please send any feedback to richard.legros@energynetworks.org
